Welcome to www.igiovanisolisti.com. I Giovani Solisti is a chamber string orchestra comprised of students from Conard and Hall High Schools in West Hartford, CT. The West Hartford Public School's string program is a comprehensive program involving approximately 800-900 students district-wide. String instruction is begun in 4th Grade and continues through high school. At the elementary level, students have the opportunity to participate in Inter-El orchestra, which performs at the Bushnell, Hartford's premiere performance venue. Middle School students have the opportunity to participate in Inter-Mid, and several select string ensembles, including Beaux Strings, Bristow Bows, and First String. The high school program consists of 5 separate periods of orchestral instruction, including I Giovani Solisti. In 2008-09, there was also a launch of exciting new pre-K Suzuki program as a pilot program at two of West Hartford's elementary schools.

Solisti is the top chamber orchestra at the high school level, and members of the group are leaders in the WH string program and beyond. Students are frequently selected to Region, All-State, All-Eastern, and National honors ensembles, and contribute heavily to the West Hartford community through performances at community functions throughout the year. Alumni have gone on to major in music at such institutions as Julliard, Curtis, Oberlin, or simply to become lovers and supporters of the arts. In recent years, members of Solisti have organized benefit concerts for Musicians without Borders, performed alongside young musicians at Smith Elementary School, performed at the opening of the WH public library, and as soloists with the Hartford Symphony Orchestra. The ensemble itself has won awards in Downbeat Magazine, toured internationally, commissioned and premiered new works for String Orchestra, and performed with well known guest soloists in the area and beyond. The group is dedicated to performing the hallmarks of the string orchestra repertoire, as well as rarely heard contemporary pieces and gems of the past. The goal of the group is to provide a framework for continued artistic development, and encourage students to share that artistry with the community they are involved.
