Mr. Stephen Clink - is the Director of I GIOVANI SOLISTI , the outstanding chamber orchestra of the West Hartford Public Schools in West Hartford, Connecticut. Stephen Clink is a committed musician and educator. In addition to directing the award winning I GIOVANI SOLISTI string orchestra Mr. Clink teaches and directs both orchestras at Conard High School, and teaches the string program at Smith Elementary School in the West Hartford Public Schools. Prior to coming to West Hartford he taught at Barnstable High School in Cape Cod, MA where he was director of the Barnstable High School String Orchestra and Symphony Orchestra, and taught classes in Music Technology and Music Theory. He also served as music director of the Nutmeg Conservatory for the Arts, where he organized a Jazz festival fusing together music and the visual arts. |

While Mr. Clink is a native of Pennsylvania, he has also served on the faculty of the North Carolina Governor’s School where he conducted the string orchestra, taught contemporary improvisation/theory, and a non-music course entitled self and society. He has a keen interest in new music, and has premiered the works of several composers, including Jeffrey Nelson’s Cadenzas for Viola and Jazz Combo, and Joshua Gate’s Concertino for Viola and Wind Ensemble with the North Carolina School of the Arts Wind Ensemble. In 2008, he was a featured guest soloist with the West Hartford Symphony Orchestra. Stephen remains dedicated to, and enjoys seeing his students embrace the joy of music making, and experience success in the art. In 2001, he presented at the MENC National Conference in Nashville, TN on movement as a listening strategy, and was the manager of the 2008 CMEA Northern Region Orchestra. He received a BM from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music where he was recipient of the Theodore Presser Music Award, and an MME from the Hartt School of Music in West Hartford CT. Residing in West Hartford, Mr. Clink enjoys playing/performing music on violin/viola, running, and biking around the hills of Northern CT. |
